Mark Rendón has been a member of the Green Party since the early 1990’s. He was born in Sacramento, CA, but grew up in Washington, DC. He has a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Manhattan School of Music. When he returned to California in 1989, he earned a Master’s in Education Administration at UC Berkeley. A music teacher in the Oakland Unified School District for 29 years, Mark served in the Oakland Education Association as a site representative, Executive Board member, Treasurer, Secretary, then as Representative to the California Teachers Association State Council, he founded the Green Party caucus which just fell short of getting CTA leadership to submit a statewide ballot to increase taxes on the wealthy and corporations. In 2001, he organized teachers and parents of his students to successfully persuade the Oakland USD to adopt an Integrated Pest Management Plan, thus ending the use of toxic pesticides in all of the public schools in Oakland. Now, he’s ready to serve his community in Assembly District 14 (AD14) and bring a progressive voice to Sacramento.

We can create social housing programs for unhoused Californians. Not projects, but housing in rent controlled and mixed income neighborhoods.
We have to accelerate the transition to 100% renewable energy.
We need to have a system to allow other voices to be heard with equal funding.
We must pass CalCare, Medicare for All, in California! Better quality healthcare for EVERYONE at a lower cost to the State. The Dems keep blocking its passage.
